weird floral designs

From the flower crown to flower shoes, floral design is limited only by imagination.  Sometimes it is simply fun to just play and create with flowers.  The Internet and Pinterest are flooded with amazing, quirky and weirdly wonderful floral designs by artists who think outside the box.  These creations don’t always serve a practical purpose but they inspire and delight, leaving viewers with a little smile, giggle or sometimes a puzzled ‘what in the world?’…….. So enjoy this fun sampling of my top 10 weirdly wonderful floral designs.

1. Flower Crowns

Floral headpieces: where flowers and fashion collide.  Theatrical, full, large scale floral headpieces that make the viewer look twice.  Fun, even if this model won’t be able to see where she is going for lilies, hydrangeas and roses!

2.  Floral beard

Okay, so this one might leave you puzzled! With the trend for men to grow large hipster beards at the moment, why not decorate them with flowers?  I think they look better all pretty and colourful – they’d certainly smell better! Only, how would one shave?

3. Fresh flower coat

This one made my heart flutter.  More so than handbags, I go weak at the knees for a tailored coat. So what happens when my two worlds collide with this amazing coat creation of many varieties and colours of orchids? True love indeed.

8. Unique bridal bouquets

I love bridal bouquet designs that think outside the square, literally, such as this gorgeous round cascading design, where all the elements compliment and work in harmony with one another.  Not every bride would be confident to carry such a work of art, but if you want to be bold and different, bridal bouquets can truly be a work of art.

9.  Floral wedding dress

Yes, there have been wedding dresses made entirely of flowers!  This amazing bridal gown creation is by master florist Zita Elze in the UK.  The skirt was stitched by hand using thousands of tiny bundles of stipa grass.   The bodice was adorned with hundreds of tiny roses, berries and other fresh flowers.  If you have time, there is a Dreamcatchers’ video online which documents the making of this amazing bridal gown, trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

10.  Flower wings

Something straight from heaven above, a pair of angel wings made entirely of fresh flowers, phalaenopsis and Singapore orchids, daisies moss, foliage and feathers.

I hope this has inspired some creative passion in the flower lovers out there.  Just about anything can be created from fresh flowers and foliage.  So if you have some time or an important occasion coming up, why not try something new using fresh flowers?
