For brides on a budget, when it comes to decorating, it is often the many table arrangements that can blow out the cost of your wedding flowers, because let’s face it, anything times 10, 15 even 20+ tables adds up.  For all my brides where this is the case, I always recommend that they focus their budget on the bridal party flowers, namely the bouquets and buttonholes.  Always have those done professionally, you personally use them throughout the day and they are the designs most photographed and therefore part of your special memories.

Then, there are great options for low-cost table centrepieces such as hiring items from an event company and/or having simple floral table centrepieces, some that you can even DIY.  Tesselaar Flowers have a great range of wedding and event flower packages available on online for those who wish to give it a go.  I recommend a practice run, make it a fun event, perhaps for your kitchen tea or bridal shower and have all your bridesmaids help, then you can be confident in your design and DIY skills on the big day.

So first of all when creating table centrepieces you need to source your vessels or in these examples glass vases.  You can hire these from a local event company in your state or source through stores like Neds and Cheap As Chips.  Once you have your vases, all you need to do is simply order and add the flowers and that’s where Tesselaar Flowers comes in.  Flowers from Tesselaars can delivered straight to your door or venue anywhere in Australia.  Then simply re-cut, place in fresh water and follow the simple steps for your chosen design.

Rustic/Country Style Centrepieces

Jam Jars are so popular and very easy to DIY when filling with one simple flower variety such as baby’s breath.  Simple and Pretty.

Small glass cubes filled with pretty roses in any colour of your choice, a perfect simple and elegant design.

For a more eclectic rustic look, try mixing different vessels (perhaps sourced from friends/family, second-hand stores etc) and flower varieties together.

For a taller table arrangement option, try twisted willow with hanging glass baubles filled with rose heads.  You could also add candles around the base of this arrangement for extra effect.

Fishbowl Style Centrepieces

Fishbowl design arrangements with submerged flowers are fantastic and effective.  They can be made in any size that the fishbowls are available from small to large, simply adjust the number of stems needed to the size of your vase.  So many flower varieties work well for this design including tulips, orchids and calla lilies.  And all of these varieties are available in so many colours, I’m sure you find the perfect one for your event.

Cylinder Style Centrepieces

Three vessels the same shape but different sizes is a very popular look and a great way of filling up each guest table.  Scatter some candles through the design to lite up the glass and submerged flowers and you got a gorgeous table scape.

Again, many flower varieties work well for this simple design, orchids, roses, calla lilies and tulips.

  1. This is great advice for the DIY brides. The key thing to remember though is all the logistics of setting up the flowers, keeping them fresh, keeping the water clear and clean, having shiny clean vases (no fingerprints), delivery logistics, bump out logistics etc. The rustic look with sprigs and buds (jars etc) is an easy option for the DIY brides too… although I’ve seen a few set ups where this has gone horribly wrong!

Thank you, Debbie, hopefully, this is helpful for brides who are on a tight budget for their wedding flowers. Of course if you are not, then it is much easier to hire a professional and not have to even think about your flowers and decorations for your wedding, just relax and walk in the room with everything beautifully done 🙂
