When planning their wedding, many people want to have all the members of their family there on the big day–including their fur babies! Flowers are a popular way to dress up animals for a wedding. Here are some great ways to include a pet with flowers on your special day.
I am a proud mother of two little humans and two fish, Wriggler and Nemo. As a family we have started with fish. If we can keep them alive, one day when the kids get older we would love to add a fur baby to our family, most likely a dog.
For those of you with fur babies, I can only imagine how much they are a important part of your family. I love our two little fish especially as I see how much joy and delight they bring to my kids. When planning your wedding, naturally you want to have all the members of your family there on the day. So here are some great ways to include your pet with flowers on your special day.
As they are essentially a part of the bridal party they can be decorated with the same flowers. This couple together with their collie posed for photographs wearing a gorgeous matching wreath to the bridal bouquet.

As a wedding florist I have created flowers for pets for weddings, with the most popular included animal being a dog. I have made floral collars and decorated leads with flowers for special fur babies. They were a beautiful inclusion to the ceremony and overall day. I mean who wouldn’t love this guy with his hydrangea halo?!
Jappalin Manning of Flowertalk together with I Heart Weddings created the most adorable examples of dogs decorated with flowers. Here are just a few of my favourite.
This pug, there are no words, except what a cutie pie! I love how his little floral shoes match his floral collar, just to complete the look.
And what about this shaggy dog rockin’ a floral crown. I hope he can see where to walk down the aisle, ha, ha!
They say to never work with children or animals. But you know your pets personality the best. So if you know your darling doggy won’t be able to handle a full circle floral collar without chewing it to pieces, perhaps try just a single bright bloom.
Just like this super stylish matching family who accessorised their four-legged friend with a few peach-colored flowers on her collar and gorgeous ribbon to finish.
I love this little cluster of flowers with a feature bow of hessian and lace. This gorgeous white lab fits in perfectly with the wedding style. If you are not sure how they are going to go walking down the aisle or sit for vows, it would be a good idea to have a rehearsal.
Of course we can’t forget about other fur babies, like our farmyard friends. We are not all city slickers here in Australia. It may be that your home is in the country and growing up, animals have been a huge part of your life. Or perhaps you just want to plan a farm inspired wedding, so how adorable is this little lamb? Certain to steal the show.
This farm wedding had quite the special wedding guest, a donkey! Now that would certainly get your guests talking. Dress up even the most offbeat pets with a beautiful floral crown so they are ready for your big day.
And we can’t talk about pets in weddings without mentioning horses. Such a beautiful animal and if you are at home on a horse what amazing images and memories could come from including them in your wedding. This beautiful horse has been adorned with a large gypsophlia collar.
Always remember to be respectful of animals and don’t place any items on them that may be uncomfortable. This floral creation is perfect as by using light weight gypsophila, it wouldn’t be too heavy around the horse’s neck.
Did you include your pet on your wedding day? Were they decorated with flowers? Would love to hear how you incorporated your fur baby into your big day with flowers.
